Georgia Botanical Society Records, 1900-2007.

The Georgia Botanical Society Records document the history and activities of the organization primarily through administrative records, surveys, printed material, correspondence, and research files, most of which was collected after the tenure of Eugene Scofield Heath. Administrative records, such as the Society's constitution, yearbooks, and meeting minutes provide a history of the organization. The bulk of the collection, however, consists of surveys of the flora of Georgia conducted by the Society's members. The organization also amassed journal articles, research papers, and newspaper articles regarding Georgia's native and cultivated plants and their geographical occurrence within the state. These surveys and collected research resulted in the publication of the Atlas of the Vascular Flora of Georgia. In addition, material detailing the Society's field trips, conservation activities, and prominent personalities is included. The collection also contains a small number of photographs, slides and herbarium.

Mellinger (1914-2006), the Society opened its membership to all those interested in learning about the state's flora no matter what their level of ...
